OMB Sequestration Reports

Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control act of 1985
Sequestration Reports

Section 254 of the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985 (BBEDCA), as amended, requires that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) submit a series of reports to the Congress related to the sequestration procedures contained in law. A sequestration happens in three instances: A breach of the discretionary spending limits, a balance on the paygo scorecards indicates deficits were increased during a fiscal year, and the annual sequestration required by amendments to BBEDCA from the Budget Control Act of 2011 (BCA).

Four reports are required under this process: A preview report, an update report, a final report, and a report related to the BCA requirements.
