The Congressional Research Service (CRS) is the primary research arm of the United States Congress. The CRS is a legislative branch support agency that operates within the Library of Congress. It assists Members of Congress, Congressional Committees and staff on a confidential, nonpartisan basis.


Statutory Authority for the Congressional Research Service

Section 203 of the Legislative Reorganization Act of 1946, as amended by section 321 of the Legislative Reorganization Act of 1970.
