Summary

The Government Accountability Office yearly issues numerous reports on a wide variety of subjects, detailing both positive and negative performance of agencies and programs of the Federal Government. It also is the chief monitor of compliance with the Antideficiency Act, a fundamental budget law restricting the Executive Branch agencies from making legal obligations unless specifically authorized by law enacted by Congress.
