Sequestration
Summary
Sequestration refers to automatic spending cuts that occur through the cancellation of the authority to commit Federal resources (Budget Authority) or funding for some government programs. The Office of Management and Budget oversees the administration of the sequestration process and determines whether it is necessary and the amounts to be cancelled.
The Statutory Paygo Scorecards were reset to zero on February 9, 2018 by Section 30102 of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 (Pub. L. 115-123).
